Children Who Witness Abuse Counselling Program |
||
An intervention program for children/youth ages 5-18 who have witnessed/experienced emotional, mental or physical abuse in their home. |
||
The Program Offers: |
||
- Individual counselling. |
||
- Group sessions (age specific). |
||
- Support for parents/caregivers. |
||
- Community education. |
||
What is an Intervention Program? |
||
The goal of the program is to stop the intergenerational cycle of abuse by: |
||
- Encouraging the expression of feelings, thought and experiences. |
||
- Teaching children healthy and safe ways to express their anger. |
||
- Teaching age appropriate problem solving and communication skills. |
||
Through individual, or group sessions, children/youth are provided with a safe environment to learn and talk about: |

- Families |
- Separation and Loss |

- Abuse |
- Safety Planning |
|
- Anger |
- Self Esteem |
|
Children will understand that they are not alone and are not at fault. |
